The final session will deal with ship repair and conversion contracts\, another major sector of shipyard work.\n\nThe seminar will include role play in a dispute simulation followed by an analysis of the problems of solutions by the delegates.\n\nTo FAMILIARISE delegates with:\n\n\tEnglish civil and criminal law.\n\tWhat constitutes a contract and what terms are applied by statute or implied.\n\tLiability in contract and Tort and the parties responsibilities.\n\tEnglish Admiralty law and jurisdiction.\n\tInternational law as it applies to shipping.\n\tRegulatory control of shipping in the UK.\n\tShipbuilding practice and contracts.\n\tMain contract forms for shipbuilding.\n\tCommon contract clauses in shipbuilding contracts.\n\tConsequences of default by the buyer or builder.\n\tForm of ship repair contracts.\n\tThe Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) repair contracts.\n\tMain provisions of a ship repair contract (BIMCO).\n\tLegal and practical principals behind a ship conversion contract.\n\n \n\n\n\n\tMarine surveyors and consultants.\n\tMarine underwriters.\n\tShipyard management.\n\tShipyard line supervisors\n\tP&I Club claims executives.\n\tInsurance claims executives.\n\tShip owners and their legal representatives.\n\tShip managers.\n\tMarine superintendents.\n\tTechnical superintendents.\n\tNew build superintendents\n\tMaritime educators.\n\tAdmiralty lawyers.\n\tThose who deal with marine surveyors and consultants on a regular basis.\n\n \n\n\nMike Wall\n\nBSc\, MSc\, FIMarEST\, CMarTech\n- Managing Director and Principal Consultant of Mike Wall & Associates\n- Author and course director for the Lloyds Maritime Academy distance learning course\n- Has written a total of 24 training modules for various diplomas in shipping\n\nMike joined Cunard Line as a marine engineer apprentice at the age of 17\, eventually reaching the rank of Chief Engineer with service aboard many types of vessel and engine.\n\nTwenty five years' experience has also been gained in hull\, machinery and cargo surveying in the USA\, New Zealand\, Fiji and South East Asia. Most of this was based in Hong Kong\, providing a wide range of marine consultancy and surveying services to P&I Clubs\, Shipowners\, Shipmanagers\, Underwriters\, Admiralty Lawyers and other Principals. He is also a qualified Mediator\, being registered both in the UK and Hong Kong.\n\nMore recently\, he has authored seven training modules for diplomas in marine superintendency\, ship surveying\, yacht & small craft surveying and ship building & repair for the Maritime Training Academy. He is also Course Director for the MTA Diploma in Ship Surveying. Six training modules have also been written for the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveying diploma in marine surveying.\n\nHe has authored and is currently course director for the Lloyds Martime Academy distance learning course on 'Marine Warranty Surveying' and continues to mentor marine surveying trainees.\nTo summarise\, a total of 24 training modules for various diplomas in shipping have been written over the last 6 years.\nHe is a Fellow of IMarEST\, Chartered Marine Technologist and Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute.
